CSM Certification Facts
Global Association for Quality Management (GAQM) is a certification provider based in the UK and accredited by the ASIC. It offers a wide range of internationally recognized credentials. Its main aim is to offer certifications that meet the highest quality standards and are recognized on a global scale. One of them is Certified Scrum Master credential.
About Certification
The exam code for CSM certification is CSM-001. Scrum is a management concept that is best described as agile. It applies to the different industries, but it is mostly used in software development.
Scrum works like a framework for project management. It does not provide the guidelines on how a certain project has to be managed. Instead, it advocates for the formation of a team that should work in conjunction to handle different aspects of the project management. It demands that the team should be self-organized and cross-functional. Thus, team members work on the guidelines of the desired outcome instead of the task definitions.
There are two distinct roles in a Scrum team. The first role is ScrumMaster – a coach who helps the other team members with the project development. The second role is Product Owner – the purpose of this specialist is to guide the team in the project management and goal achievement (delivering of the services/products to the customer/end user). It is important to note that there is no single team leader – every member of the team is assigned with a task that he/she is fully responsible for.
Scrum projects are developed via a series of phases known as sprints. A sprint should not last more than a month – most sprints are timed to two weeks depending on the amount of work to be done. It starts with an initial meeting, where the team members determine the amount of work to be done and assign different roles. The initial meeting is followed by daily meetings, where the team members share their progress and identify any setbacks or challenges that should be addressed. These meetings are finalized with a review at the end of each sprint, where the team members present their progress to the Product Owner and any other concerned stakeholders.
There are four main artifacts in Scrum development: the product(s), the product backlog, the sprint burndown chart, and the release burndown chart. Burndown charts indicate the pending amount of work required to complete the project. Scrum is an agile framework for project development and management. It is popular for its effectiveness, which results in the production of quality software programs.
