Salesforce.com is a company that offers cloud computing services for use in managing customers and customer-related services such as sales and marketing. The Salesforce platform allows its users to build and develop apps, which help to integrate customer-related data that result in quality customer engagements. These certifications are targeted at app developers on the Salesforce platform.

- Salesforce Platform Developer I (PDI)
This credential is aimed at those who have the experience in using the Lightning Platform to build programmatic and declarative applications. To qualify, you must pass an exam that consists of 60 multiple-choice or multiple-select questions (five of which are additional unscored questions). You will be given 110 minutes to complete this test. The passing score for this exam is 65%, and the price is $200.

- Salesforce Platform Developer II (PDII)
This credential validates the candidate’s advanced programmatic skills in using the Lightning Platform and data modeling in developing complex business interfaces and logic. You can earn this certification by following one of the two paths available. The first path involves passing an exam with 60 multiple-choice or multiple-select questions. A candidate is given 120 minutes to finish the test. The passing score for this exam is 63%, while the cost is $200. PDI certification is a prerequisite for this exam. The second path involves Trailhead Superbadges. These superbadges demonstrate your ability to use the skills gained in providing advanced solutions to the business requirements of the real world. The superbadges that are availed on Trailhead are Data Integration Specialist, Apex Specialist, Advanced Apex Specialist, and Lightning Component Framework Specialist. The superbadges modules are based on the hands-on experience. This path is completely free.

- Salesforce Commerce Cloud Digital Developer
The certification is targeted at the cloud developers with experience in providing eCommerce business solutions using the Salesforce Commerce Cloud Digital. The associated exam consists of 60 scored and 5 randomly placed unscored questions. You will be given 105 minutes to complete the test. You are required to attain a minimum score of 70% to qualify for this credential. The cost of the exam is $200. There are no prerequisites for this test.

All these exams are proctored and can be done online or on-site. The registration for the exams is done at Webassessor, while Superbadges certification path registration takes place at the Trailhead site. Passing your tests or achieving superbadges earns you a corresponding Salesforce Developer certification. The credential must be renewed every year. To do that, you need to pass new exam releases that are related to your certification. Salesforce releases up to three new exams per year. PDI and PDII have three exam releases, which happen in winter, spring, and summer, while Cloud Digital Developer certification has only one exam release per year.
