What will cause the attempt fail?

After installing VMware vCenter Server Appliance, an administrator attempts to configure linked mode. What will cause the attempt fail?

An active directory server cannot be located.

The vCenter Server appliance cannot be configured in linked mode until installed via the vCenter server appliance administrator interface.

A vCenter Server instance must be installed as standalone before the vCenter Server appliance can be joined to it.

Linked mode is not available when using the vCenter Server appliance.

    Isn’t the answer A?

Linked Mode uses Microsoft Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) to store and synchronize data across multiple vCenter Server systems. ADAM is installed as part of vCenter Server installation. Each ADAM instance stores data from the vCenter Server systems in the group, including information about roles and licenses. This information is replicated across all of the ADAM instances in the connected group to keep them in sync.
